Brief Introduction:

My name is Elizabeth, and I am a Board-Certified Behavior Analyst (BCBA). I joined the company in April, and I’ve been working in the ABA field for nearly 10 years. I started my career in 2017 as an RBT, then became a BCaBA, and eventually a BCBA. Having worked in each of these roles has given me a really strong appreciation for the technicians, families, and clients I get to work with.

I earned my Master’s degree in Counseling with a concentration in Applied Behavior Analysis in 2021. My journey into ABA actually started somewhat unexpectedly. I had a professor who took the time to get to know me and my goals and suggested that I try becoming an RBT to gain some psychology related experience before deciding on a major and career path. I gave it a try, fell in love with the field, and became especially interested in its evidence based approach and the way it can make such a meaningful difference in people's lives.

Key Accomplishments:

Over the years, I’ve had the opportunity to work in a variety of settings, including homes, schools, and clinics. I’m also currently licensed to practice in Maryland, Virginia, North Carolina, and Tennessee.

When I think about my biggest accomplishments, I honestly think first about my technicians and my cases. Seeing a technician finish a session feeling more supported, confident, or comfortable in their role is incredibly rewarding to me. I also love seeing the progress our clients and families make along the way.

One of the most memorable cases I’ve worked on involved a young adult who initially had a very difficult time communicating with others and would quickly shut down in social situations. With time, dedication, and so much teamwork between the technician, family, and clinical team, we were able to see some incredible growth.

I’ll never forget our final session together. I watched them drive away excited about starting their first job and looking forward to a date with their new girlfriend after work. That moment really stuck with me because it represented so much more than learning a new skill. It was about confidence, independence, relationships, and being able to experience life in ways that had once felt out of reach.

Insights & Expertise:

I’m especially passionate about helping children and families see the possibilities available to them. I believe ABA can be a great tool for helping people discover their strengths, build confidence, become more independent, and experience the world as a safer place to be themselves.

One way I think about ABA is that it’s like color in a mathematical sense. There is a structured and measurable foundation to what we do, but there is also so much individuality and complexity in the person behind the data. I think it’s important to appreciate both.

I try to approach my work with the mindset that we should leave the world a little better than we found it. If I can play even a small part in helping someone gain confidence, discover who they are, or become more independent, then I feel like I’m doing what I’m meant to do.

I also really enjoy supporting other professionals in the field. Whether that means teaching a technician how to collect and interpret data, guiding someone through their academic journey toward becoming a BCBA, or supporting a team through a challenging case, I love being able to contribute to the growth of others.

Personal Touch:

Outside of work, I spend most of my time with my husband, our baby, and our Mini Schnauzer. Life with a crawling baby definitely keeps us on our toes!

When I'm not found chasing my dog and little one around the house, I enjoy building LEGO sets, reading, and playing the One Piece Card Game.

Why I Love What I Do:

I love my position because it gives me so many different opportunities to help shape someone's life for the better. Sometimes that means teaching a new technician on their first day. Other times, it’s helping a child learn to feed themselves for the first time or seeing a parent's face when their child says their first word.

Those moments may look different, but they all mean so much to me. They’ve shaped my heart and deepened my love for this field and what it can do. I’m grateful to be part of a profession and organization that allows me to witness those moments and help create more possibilities for the people and families we serve.
